Plan the ceiling

Use the finished ceiling height to compare a fan and an extension stem. Adding a stem changes the estimated height below the blades, so the check considers them together. It does not inspect the ceiling or approve electrical work. Keep the final mounting assessment with a suitably qualified installer.
